Your Collection: presence and absence

10 June – 25 September 2016

Drawn from the gallery’s collection, this exhibition presents a series of works with the power to evoke ideas, memories and places without recourse to the representational image. In creating works with no discernible figurative presence, the implied absence serves to heighten our own sense of being. Each of the artists in this exhibition has created works that inhabit the spaces between the visible and imagined worlds, and in doing so encourage us into a state of contemplation, reflection and invention. Included in the selection are works by Ian Friend, Jonathan Jones, Brett McMahon and Ahn Wells.

A gallery project curated by Rob Cleworth.
