Northern Impressions: A Celebration of Contemporary Printmaking

13 July – 26 August 2012

The viewer is taken on a rich visual journey through the Australian landscape and into Aboriginal ‘country’, where the intrinsic connection the exhibiting artists have to land is given powerful visual form through printmaking.

The exhibition showcases 53 limited edition prints by artists from across the Top End, Central Australia, Mornington and Bentinck islands and Kimberley regions, and reveals the diversity of artistic expression in these regions.

Produced with Northern Editions in Darwin since 2004, this selection of the studio’s finest prints will challenge and delight audience perceptions of the printmaking medium, displaying its potential for collaborative virtuosity, technical excellence and luminous colour.

Touring exhibition from Artback NT: Arts Development and Touring in conjunction with the Australia Council for the Arts and Northern Territory Government Department of Natural Resources, Environment, the Arts and Sport.
