Frock Stars: Inside Australian Fashion Week

1 September – 21 October 2012

Australian fashion designers are experiencing unprecedented international and local interest in their work. Australian Fashion Week is the country’s most important industry event showcasing the wholesale collections of emerging and established designers before the critical eye of local and international buyers and media.

Frock Stars is a captivating behind-the-scenes look at the history, highlights, glamour, controversies and achievements of Australian Fashion Week.

At its centre, the exhibition showcases 15 garments from major Australian designers including Zimmermann’s ‘60s inspired swimwear, exquisite demi-couture evening gowns by Toni Maticevski and Michelle Jank, streetwear by Ksubi, the irreverent Iced Vo Vo dress by Romance was Born and the classically inspired Ice Blue knot pleated dress by rising star Dion Lee.

Created and toured by the Powerhouse Museum in collaboration with IMG Fashion, funded through the Visions of Australia program.
