2011 Archibald Prize: NSW Regional Tour

28 October – 4 December 2011

The Archibald Prize is a much anticipated highlight in Australia’s visual arts calendar. First awarded in 1921, it has become one of this country’s most lucrative and prestigious awards, drawing record-breaking interest and crowds to the exhibition of finalists.

In 2011, the prize was won by Ben Quilty with a portrait of the artist Margaret Olley. The regional tour brought the inevitably controversial, yet hugely popular exhibition to Lake Macquarie.

An Art Gallery of NSW exhibition toured by Museums and Galleries NSW.
